ABOUT US
Petrichor Mining International
Experience. Expertise. Gold Recovery.
Recovering Resources. Creating Value.
Petrichor Mining International is a mining and mineral recovery company specialising in the retreatment of historical gold mine tailings.
Our business is built on decades of mining experience, practical metallurgical expertise and a belief that significant value remains in resources previously considered exhausted.
Through innovative processing methods, disciplined operations and strategic partnerships, we transform historical mining waste into commercially viable gold recovery opportunities.
Our Heritage
Built on Experience
Petrichor’s foundations lie in the extensive mining experience of Don Bailey, whose career includes serving as Managing Director of Rio Tinto’s operations in Zimbabwe.
His decades of leadership in the mining industry provide the experience, perspective and technical understanding that underpin Petrichor’s approach to developing mining opportunities.
Working alongside Don is a team of experienced mining professionals with complementary expertise in metallurgy, engineering, plant construction, operations and business development.
Together, they combine established mining knowledge with an entrepreneurial approach to identifying and developing mineral recovery projects.
What We Do
Unlocking Value from Mining’s Legacy
Our principal focus is the recovery of gold from historical mine tailings.
Many established mining operations have accumulated substantial volumes of previously processed material. Advances in metallurgical understanding, processing technology and operating methods create opportunities to recover gold that was not economically recoverable during the original mining operations.
Petrichor identifies these opportunities, evaluates their commercial potential and develops practical processing solutions.
Our approach combines technical assessment, efficient plant design, careful capital management and hands-on operational oversight.
Our Operations
Zimbabwe — Our Operational Foundation
Petrichor’s established gold recovery operations are located at Renco and CAM in Zimbabwe.
These operations provide the practical foundation for our business, demonstrating our ability to develop and operate tailings retreatment facilities.
Our experience extends beyond Zimbabwe, including previous project involvement at Klipwal in South Africa and Mumbwa in Zambia.
Building on this foundation, Petrichor is evaluating opportunities in South Africa, Tanzania and Western Australia.
Our ambition is to develop a portfolio of commercially sustainable gold recovery operations across selected international mining jurisdictions.
Our Philosophy
Recovering Resources. Creating Value.
We believe successful mining businesses are built on sound technical judgement, disciplined financial management and strong working relationships.
Our philosophy is straightforward:
Identify the opportunity. Understand the resource. Apply the expertise. Recover the value.
We recognise that responsible tailings retreatment can provide both commercial benefits and opportunities to improve the management of historical mining sites.
Collaboration is central to our approach. We work with mine owners, technical specialists, local partners and stakeholders to develop projects that deliver lasting value.
Looking Ahead
Building an International Mining Business
Petrichor Mining International is being developed as the platform for expanding our mining interests beyond our established Zimbabwean operations.
Our strategy is to build a carefully selected portfolio of gold recovery projects, applying the experience gained from existing operations to new opportunities.
We are not seeking growth for its own sake.
Our objective is to develop technically sound, commercially viable projects through disciplined investment, operational excellence and long-term partnerships.
